Cranes missed the fact that part of the property we were buying was not built on registered land. This was missed despite paying for searches and they also failed to change the title into our names with land registry, leaving one part in the previous owners names.
When we came to sell it was immediately picked up by our buyers solicitors. We contacted the local authority who were the owners of part of the land and after a survey they wanted £150,000 from us. When we contacted Cranes about the mistake they had made, they were rude and asked us for the cost to retrieve documents from archive.
